Technorizing Stumbleupon

Here is a rather neat idea that I’d never thought of before. Did you know that you can set up your StumbleUpon page on Technorati? When you sign up on Technorati, they ask you to insert a piece of code into one of your blog posts…and then after the blog is set up, you can remove it (which is nice when you find that a website you thumbed up two days ago isn’t available anymore).
I came across this on Bill Hartzer’s blog, and he gives step by step instructions including screen shots on how to do this.
I love this idea! Just think about it for a minute. If you’re like me, you credit another Stumbler when you copy something from their page. If we all have our SU pages listed on Technorati, whenever someone gives you credit for a discovery, it will be helping your authority. The more Stumblers who add their pages to Technorati, the more authority will be possible to be gained. The latest stats I’ve read for the number of SUers was between 3-5 million. If even a third of those people do this, that’s a million or more stumblers who will be able to share Technorati authority with their friends and with the blogs they review.
Looking at the top 100 popular blogs on Technorati, Engadget’s authority is around 32,000. Boing Boing’s is around 24,000. Lifehacker is close to 17,000. Kos is a little over 12,000. Do you see what I’m getting at? If we start adding SU blogs to Technorati, we can turn the blogging world on it’s ear! Sounds fun to me…what do you think?
